Energy Efficient Affordable Homes ESP Ecocent (MEV)

Energy Efficient Affordable Homes - Fort William Homes

With the requirement for more energy efficient affordable homes in the UK on the rise.

Architects & Developers must now design and build more energy efficient affordable homes that are combined with carbon friendly heating and hot water systems. The requirement for air tight / insulated builds has also become more common as this will help achieve improved Energy Performance Certificates (EPC).

(MEV) Campbell Homes have installed the ESP Ecocent Mev system to deliver all the Hot water and ventilation to 21 new build properties in Fort William. The project which will be delivered to the Lochaber Housing Association is scheduled for completion early 2017.

Delivering Energy Efficient Affordable Homes in Fort William

All 21, 2 bed energy efficient affordable homes have been fitted with an ESP Ecocent system. A 200 litre hot water cylinder with built in air source heat pump technology which also acts as a ventilation/extraction unit to provide continuous air movement with the property.

The Ecocent Hot Water and Ventilation System is a unique product that has been tested and approved by the Building Research Establishment for inclusion in the Government Approved SAP Software which is the mandatory system used to calculate property SAP Ratings and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCS)

In recent years, developers have often resorted to installing PV and Solar Hot Water Panels to achieve compliant SAP ratings on new build properties, the ECOCENT can help achieve a compliant SAP RATING without the need for either of these systems, which often upset the cosmetics of the property exterior and which rely on a suitable property orientation.

The use of an Ecocent Hot Water and Ventilation System will help new build properties achieve compliance of both Parts L and F (section 6) of the Building Regulations, but its use is not limited to new build properties, it is a system that can easily be incorporated in most properties new or old and can dramatically improve energy efficiency and the living environment.

An Ecocent MEV system gives you…

  • An Unvented Hot Water Cylinder (200ltr and 300ltr cylinders available)

  • An Mev Ventilation System (Extraction For All Wet Rooms)

  • An Air Source Heat Pump (Internal)

  • Waste Heat Recovery (Whilst In Hot Water Production Mode)

  • Dehumidification

There are NO additional specialised trades required to install the Ecocent hot water system.

  • Standard G3 plumbing in unvented hot water cylinders

  • Simple ducting installation (similar to MVHR)

  • Simply install an Ecocent unit rather than a standard hot water tank

Saving money with the Ecocent MEV

When you install the Ecocent MEV system your property will achieve an improved EPC rating. Better still, in the majority of installations the system is far more cost effective when compared with other renewable energy systems (Solar, PV, Solar Thermal etc).

The installation is not the only way that the Ecocent system will help you save money…

  • No requirement for extractor fans in wet rooms

  • No trickle vents required in wet rooms

  • No requirement for multiple coring or piercing of the thermal envelope

  • Only one air exhaust piercing required

How does the Ecocent system work?

The Ecocent MEV Hot Water and Ventilation System is a unique product that has been tested and approved by the Building Research Establishment for inclusion in the Government Approved SAP Software which is the mandatory system used to calculate property SAP Ratings and Energy Performance Certificates (EPCS).

In recent years, developers have often resorted to installing PV and Solar Hot Water Panels to achieve compliant SAP ratings on new build properties. The ECOCENT MEV can help achieve a compliant SAP RATING without the need for either of these systems, which rely on a suitable property orientation and often upset the cosmetics of the property exterior.

The use of an Ecocent MEV Hot Water and Ventilation System will help new build properties achieve

compliance of both Part L and F of section 6 of the Building Regulations, but its use is not limited to new build properties. It is a system that can easily be incorporated in most properties new or old and can dramatically improve energy efficiency and the living environment.

There are other cost reductions to be considered by installing the ECOCENT MEV

  • NO REQUIREMENT FOR EXTRACTOR FANS IN WET ROOMS

  • NO TRICKLE VENTS REQUIRED IN WET ROOMS

  • NO REQUIREMENT FOR MULTIPLE CORING OR PIERCING OF THE THERMAL ENVELOPE

  • ONLY ONE AIR EXHAUST PIERCING REQUIRED
